Energy and Sustainability Investments

İhlas Holding is rapidly expanding its investments with the vision of becoming a strong regional player in the energy sector. Within this framework, our strategic subsidiary, Orta Asya Investment Holding, plays a critical role in Central Asia’s energy transition and regional development through its ongoing projects in Kyrgyzstan.

Since 2024, Orta Asya Investment has undertaken the Kazarman and Kokomeren hydroelectric power plant projects and the Bishkek CHPP-2 natural gas combined cycle power plant project under long-term agreements signed with the Government of Kyrgyzstan. These projects have a total installed capacity of over 2,217 MW and an annual production capacity of 8–9 billion kWh. As a result, the country’s electricity generation capacity will increase by more than half of its current level, positioning Kyrgyzstan as an energy-exporting country. The projects are secured by 20-year operating periods and state purchase guarantees.

Our renewable energy-based hydroelectric investments align with the goal of reducing carbon emissions and are expected to prevent approximately 5 million tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions annually. The natural gas combined cycle plant, on the other hand, offers an environmentally friendly, flexible, and reliable energy supply with its modern technology and high-efficiency design. These investments are also fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the EU Taxonomy, carrying significant potential in terms of green financing mechanisms.

Our sustainability strategy is not limited solely to energy production. The projects adopt a multi-dimensional approach, including increasing local employment, developing the supply chain, supporting infrastructure investments, and contributing to the local community through social projects in education and healthcare. In this context, Orta Asya Investment implements its projects in line with international standards through cooperation agreements signed with global partners and contributes to regional knowledge and long-term development through corporate social responsibility initiatives such as the Center of Excellence in Hydro Sciences.

By pursuing its energy investments with a long-term strategic perspective, İhlas Holding aims to be a pioneer not only in Türkiye’s but also in Central Asia’s clean energy transition. This vision strengthens cooperation between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan while contributing to the region’s emergence as a green energy bridge between Europe, China, and the Middle East.
