İhlas Holding Makes Another Investment in Energy

İhlas Holding has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China-based energy group CEEC’s investment company CEOIC and Sungen Solar Energy for a 250-megawatt renewable energy project.

During the signing ceremony held at the Marriot Hotel in Ankara, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Nevzat Şatıroğlu, the agreement was signed by Kani Bozbay on behalf of İhlas Holding, Ms. Cheng Dan, General Manager of CEOIC (China Energy International Group Co. Ltd.), and İnan Yürek, Chairman of the Board of Sungen Solar Energy, one of Turkey’s experienced renewable energy companies.

ONE OF THE LARGEST SOLAR ENERGY INVESTMENTS IN TURKEY
As part of the agreement, a licensed solar power plant with a total capacity of 200 MW and a 65 MW ESS (Energy Storage System) project will be developed. The energy storage systems, with a capacity of 200 MWh/250 MWm to be integrated at a later stage, will play a crucial role in efficiently utilizing energy produced from renewable sources.

Under the signed memorandum of understanding, a company will be established with 80% ownership by CEOIC, 10% by Sungen Solar Energy, and 10% by İhlas Holding. This company will oversee the development, construction, and operation of the project.

“RENEWABLE ENERGY INVESTMENTS ARE CRUCIAL”
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Nevzat Şatıroğlu emphasized the importance of bringing the project to life as soon as possible and expressed his hope that it would be beneficial for both countries. Şatıroğlu stated, “One of the most important pillars of our ministry is ensuring energy supply security, another is minimizing and eliminating energy dependency, and the third is achieving the ‘2053 net-zero carbon’ target set forth by our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.”

“WE WILL CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE TO TURKEY’S FUTURE”
Kani Bozbay, who signed the agreement on behalf of İhlas Holding, stated that they see themselves as an important part of Turkey’s sustainable energy future. Bozbay said, “Together with China Energy and Sungen Solar Energy, we have prepared this collaboration with a visionary approach. We aim to continue this partnership in an even more forward-thinking manner. Through clean, sustainable, and reliable energy investments, we will continue contributing to Turkey’s future.”

“THIS PROJECT IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF A TRILATERAL PARTNERSHIP”
China Energy Chairman Lyu Zexiang stated, “Since 2001, CEEC has entered the Turkish market and undertaken more than 70 projects. Today, by signing this Memorandum of Understanding with Sungen and İhlas, we are taking a concrete step in launching our first integrated investment, construction, and operation model project in Turkey.”

“TURKEY HAS ENTERED AN ENERGY INVESTMENT ERA”
Sungen Solar Energy Executive Board Chairman Rıfat Oğuz Çelebi highlighted that Turkey’s core energy strategy aims to strengthen energy supply security by diversifying routes and resources, ultimately positioning Turkey as a regional energy trade hub.
