Prof. Dr. Ömer Soysal

Born in 1962 in Konya, Prof. Dr. Ömer Soysal graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialization in thoracic surgery and began his academic career as an assistant professor in the Thoracic Surgery Department at İnönü University Faculty of Medicine. He later worked as a visiting assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, Methodist Hospital in Houston, and as a clinical observer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

In 2001, he became an associate professor at İnönü University. Between 1999 and 2005, he served as the Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department at the same university. In 2005, he was appointed as the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital. In 2010, he became a professor of thoracic surgery at Bezmialem Vakıf University, Vakıf Gureba Faculty of Medicine Hospital, where he currently serves as the Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department.

Soysal has served as the coordinator of the Phytotherapy Certification Program at the Faculty of Medicine, a member of the Non-Invasive Procedures Ethics Committee, and the operating room supervisor at Bezmialem Faculty of Medicine. He is also a member of the Thoracic Surgery TUKMOS Committee under the Ministry of Health, as well as the General Directorate of Health Services, Department of Organ Transplantation and Dialysis Services. Additionally, he has been involved in the scientific advisory board for lung transplants, contributed as a writer to the Turkey Clinics “Academic Mind” platform, and served as a member of the Faculty of Medicine Administrative Board. He continues to hold these positions.

Prof. Dr. Ömer Soysal has published 118 academic works, including 43 international publications and book chapters in Turkish. He has also presented 272 conference papers, 19 of which were presented internationally, and has participated in numerous conferences, delivering speeches and chairing sessions.
